The rubber ball project - Het project met de rubberen bal

I spent the last beautiful and tropical summer days in the province of Zeeland. Clear blue skies, calm seas, lots of sail boats. It looked like the Côte d'Azur in the south of France. Once back I had some catching up to do on all the lovely blogs and continued my rubber ball project.
I'm done weaving. I wrapped the rubber ball in cling film so I could  rub some glue on the project once finished. This way it keeps its shape. Now what shall I do with it?

The ball is not so big so the final result isn't either. A hanging chair for my adult dolls is not possible however for a child it fits. But it could also be a bassinet.

The green heart shaped paper-clip is from Ikea. With a bit of sticky tape I put two together to make the legs of a bassinet. They come in different colours so I would have to spray them. I put some pictures from Internet to show some inspiration. This is the first try weaving on a rubber ball so it's a bit irregular but it offers potential.

Except I don't need a child's hanging chair nor a bassinet....

So here's is another option, also with different pictures found on the internet.

I doubt these chairs are very comfortable in real life, but they are definitely a good option for the project. Again, unfinished and with tape and the paper-clips, this is what I came up with.

Ikea paper-clips

I love this! Dit vind ik mooi!

Art does look comfortable - Volgens mij zit het wel lekker
I think I will make it into a chair. I do like the paper-clips as legs and Art seems to be very pleased too. Now, all I need to do is find a way to attach the paper-clips permanently and finish the loose hanging threads off. But first there's a car boot sale in the village so better go and see if there's some minis to be found...

  1. I Love the little seat!!! Art does look very comfortable... and the little cushion and the carpet make things look very cheerful! The paperclip legs are really nice... they remind me a little bit of the metal frame legs of the "Butterfly " chair... we had one when I was growing up... But I know how tricky it can be to attach things like that! Maybe extra pieces of cardboard where they attach under the seat would give them stability and remain out of view.
I'm glad you had such a nice Vacation!

    1. Thank you Betsy! I agree, a cardboard support somewhere might be in order...
I remember the Butterfly Chair, it's never easy to get out of, especially when wearing a skirt! :-)
The chair is destined for my secret project so the final result will be revealed later but I did enjoy weaving over a ball. It offers so many different possibilities depending on the size of the ball. I found this one while weeding in the garden. I guess, I'll have to dig up some more :-)

  3. Hello Veronique! I am glad that you had a wonderful summer by the sea! Now it is September once again, and those 2 glorious months of sunshine here in Vancouver, have been replaced right away with clouds, rain and thunder and lightning storms! so sad:( Moving on; your ball chair looks interesting and so many possibilities too! How will you stiffen the cord and attach the legs? You will have to get Art to move first, and with the pose that he is holding, he looks stubbornly like he is determined to hold his ground and stay put! :D

    1. Hello Elizabeth! The weather has turned here too. Some major thunder and rain... :-( Ah well, every season has its charm.
I have managed to fasten the legs, see my new post! Art did allow me to finish it and he is still very pleased with it!
      X,
