Sewing and knitting shop - Naai- en breiwinkel

As you know, I have an ambitious To Do list: finish the Ancestor's house or at least start thinking about Christmas decorations, finish the modern house for the A-team as well as furnish the General Store. And as a result of my last post, I now have to make mini chickens :-)

You'd think I'd work out some logical order in all of these projects. Well no. Not me. I do it all at the same time. While one is drying, I work on another project. My living room has exploded in one big craft area with stuff everywhere, wood, paper, fabric and all imaginable bits and bobs just scattered around. There's a path from the door to the sofa for the cat and me, and well, that's it really. Even the counter tops have been invaded by mini stuff. So today, after finishing this update, I shall be putting some order in the chaos.

But I have been busy. Yesterday I had a workshop "how to make a wool cabinet". So, last week I already started making some supplies. Now, this is going to take me forever to fill, but at least, it's a start.

I made a little wooden box with crochet yarn, some thread spools in various degrees of success. I made them with cocktail sticks and skewers but the quality of wood is not always very good. I have now found skewers made of solid wood and I have hopes for nice and tidy spools, but have yet to try.

I have also made some miniature Lucet forks. If you don't know what Lucet is, check out this video and take a look at my Pinterest board.
Apparently, these cords were also used to lace a corset. They are very strong and when cut, do not unravel.
Lucet or Tvinningsben, dates back to the Vikings and is easy to do and take on a trip. It's also very relaxing. I have a few real ones, simple and double and decided to make a few in miniature as well.

This is the cabinet I made yesterday. It has yet to be sanded, painted and filled. With a lot, a lot of yarn. While I was there, I also bought a counter.

This is it in the shop:
Hier staat het in de winkel:

On my way home I could see the sky with beautiful colours of red, pink and orange. I drove past the lake to take a picture and share with you.

Thank you all for your lovely comments! Don't forget to poke the pictures for a better view.
Have a great Sunday!

I can completely relate to your "Explosion" of creative supplies and Disarray (never a mess!).... I Live the same way... the projects are too important to always be putting them away!!! (When would I work on them if I did that???) So rest assured... you are not alone in this Mini-mania! But life is SO much more Fun this way!!!

    1. Not just a yarn shop but a general store where you can get almost anything :-) In my cheap thrift store find. Well that's the plan anyway :-) Yes, life is so much more fun this way. Waking up with an idea is an automatic good mood start of the day, even if it means housekeeping is put off yet another day :-) It's just that I hope that someday soon, discipline will kick in... sigh... Yes I am rather pleased with my Viking tool. I hope Angélique will enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine :-)

I'm really looking forward to your next progresses... whatever they might be... and as long as your livingroom path is still free... ;O)

    Greetings

Blij toe!! :-)
      Fijne week!

  7. That cabinet is gorgeous! It's going to look amazing when all the colourful products are displayed in it. The balls of crochet thread look great, did you thread them around a bead?

I've never heard of the Lucet fork before, very interesting, and your mini one is fabulous.

    1. Thank you Norma! Yes I used a bead. I had a RL ball of that particular yarn and put in my hand. Then I looked for beads that looked the right size in Angélique's hand. For the cabinet, I received some fine straws (the ones we grew up with, when the bendy straws did not yet exist :-) ). Those will be much more work to fill!
