Christmas decorations - Kerstversieringen

Now that my bloglist is filling up with beautiful Christmas displays, I'm starting to feel the pressure to start decorating too.
While Angélique was having a fit in the kitchen, Art and I hid in the attic searching for that mini Christmas tree I thought I had. In vain. It's gone. There was a time when I actually threw things away... I know... I shouldn't have. I have now learned not to throw things away but as a result my house is filling up rapidly. So for this project I am only using things I already have.

I had this artificial Christmas garland which is not to scale.

I cut all the needles to make it fit the mini world a bit better and twisted it into a tree.

So I sent Art off to cut a tree down. Thankfully I got him the right tools for the job and he sawed down a  (sort of) pretty tree.
Now, in The Netherlands, everybody rides a bike and they transport the oddest things on them as you can see in this example.

Art is now trying to figure out how we do it.....

O.k., so he got it home. It took him a while which gave me the time to quickly decorate a little corner where we can set up the Christmas display.

The floor is an adhesive tile I had left over from my real life attic. I thought it would be too big but as it is it doesn't look too bad. Maybe I'll even use it in the living room of the big house.

When he came back, Art asked if it was safe to go into the kitchen and ask for a piece of the Yule log.

It does look scrumptious doesn't it? But neither one of us dared to risk it so we went on with decorations. Art wanted to know if the green garland would work in the Christmas box, so I let him try it.

Neither one of us is quite sure about it yet. We'll see.

We zullen zien.

Yesterday Art started with the outside decorations as well and this is what it looks like at night...

While Angélique is still guarding the cakes in the kitchen and Art and I are busying ourselves with Christmas decorations, the cat is lazily looking at our progress from his fluffy Christmas blanket.

He definitely got the better part of the deal!

Hij heeft aan het langste eind getrokken!

Don't forget to poke the pictures.
Have a great weekend!

  1. So sweet! Congratulations on your Christmas decorating! It looks wonderful. And Art did a great job getting that tree there on that bike (I don't think I could've done it). And yeah... the cat. Supervising, probably. :)

    1. Art wants to apply for Dutch citizenship sometime in the future. I'm sure "Christmas tree on bike" is mandatory :-) Yes, the cat is supervising. Every ornament that falls gets a swing of the paw!

  2. I await your Christmas tree decorations, pine is in the air! ;) Your flooring for the room box looks really good, even though its a large piece the pattern fits quite well. Your kitty seems ready for the season all snuggly and ready for a pet in the new red bedding *lol* try to get it back now ;P

    1. Making ornaments, putting in Christmas lights... pfff. this is hard work! :-)
As for the blanket: I will never get it back! If I'm lucky, I will be able to slide my legs under him when he's fast asleep! :-)

  4. Art is very strong willed to resist sneaking a piece of that cake - looks delicious. Your miniature scene is bright and cheerful and the Szalasi chair fits in wonderfully. I look forward to seeing how the room progresses. Your lovely cat has the perfect spot to watch progress.

    1. Thank you Sharee, I agree, the chair fits well in this scene. Much better than in the house. The cat, who never wrecks anything, has suddenly taken an interest in mini ornaments...

  5. Love your (& Arts) progress on the decorating. I love that chair! I wonder if Art will be allowed to sit in it or is it only for Angelique?
    Hugs,

    1. I caught the two lovebirds sharing the chair, with Angélique on Art's lap :-) Guess cake is the only thing they fight about! ;-)

  6. Wow, this is Christmas tree decoration for professionals... Art did a good job solving the transportation problem... and next year he will be much faster (which will make it harder for Angélique to protect her cake). It's starting to look very festive at your place - and the tile fits well for that Christmas corner. Now hurry up to get ready, you don't want your supervising cat to remind you to do so... ;O)

    Greetings

  7. Hi Veronique! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures of Art getting the tree home on his bicycle!!! It gives me a huge smile! (I have just today put my RL trees up ... the lights are on but no decorations.... whew! So I can sympathize with Art as he tries to decorate!) I think your Christmas Corner is a great idea and I Love the bright colors! I am trying to plan some mini Christmas decorations too.... That cake sure does look real... I am beginning to think I need some Christmas cakes...! So little time... so much to do...!!! I think Angelique is going to have to give in and let him eat cake! And your kitty has the best idea of all.... warm blanket and regular naps!!! I can't wait to see what your tree looks like when Art is done! :)

    1. Apparently, Art decorating the tree involves me getting off my behind and into work mode.... sigh. Yes Art, I'm coming, with ornaments yes...
