More than 6 months ago... I am truly sorry. Meer dan 6 maanden geleden. het spijt me!

I feel like I deserted you and the blogging community.
I hope you are all still out there!

There are plenty of mitigating circumstances and excuses but it all doesn't really matter, does it?

I have been following you however, dropping a note here and there. I think tablets and mobile phones, though wonderful as they are, are the death of blogging. You just can't quite work on your blog as you can on your old fashioned PC.

And Facebook of course, I plead guilty to being on Facebook, a lot! But I have never really gone away from blogging.

Anyway, here is a little update to La Maison des Ancêtres.

Hier is een kleine update over La Maison des Ancêtres.

As far as Angelique and Art are concerned, there's a bit of a problem. Art's inner wires have broken so he's in pieces in Doll Hospital and Angelique decided she wanted a change of clothes but I didn’t have any so she's now riding her scooter naked. Yes you read it right. Naked.... Whatever will I do with her * shakes head in desperation*

* schudt hoofd *

As far as the house is concerned, I was hesitant to tackle the exterior but once I got to it, it wasn't that bad. It's a lot of work but it can be done in stages.

I bought my house second hand all assembled and glued together and although that saves a lot of work, it also complicates things because you can't reach the corners well or you have to half destroy your house to unglue one little thing.

Just for memory's sake, this is what the house looked like. Zo zag het eruit.

I tried to break off or unglue the window frames but as you can see next to the front door, that caused considerable damage. I chose to Dremel away the bits sticking out and transform the remaining frames into stone.

My house is supposed to look like a house in Limburg and this is where I got my inspiration.

I am not enirely satisfied about the "stone"window frames so I will rework them some more.

I have  also continued work on the interior. I met someone who really liked my bedroom furniture so I sold it to her, enabling me to splurge on a beautful plant made by an amazing talented and kind women, Ilona from Minimumloon
I fel in love with this plant, the blueish one. Isn't it amazing? I am super happy with it but it means I have to get the house in order so that I can display it. At the moment it is tucked away safely out of light and out of harms way.

Anyway, my bedroom was left empty and I decided to redo it a little. I still haven't got new furniture but I am working on that. My ancestors will soon be able to spend the night again ;-)

Next ime I will show you what I did to the entrance hall.

In June I attendend a workshop from Jacomine Mink. It was an amazing day, I learned a lot, met nice likeminded people and her daughter provided an amazing lunch.
This is what I made.

That's it for now. Thank you for visiting my blog even though I am an irregular blogger. Have a great summer!

  2. Hi Veronique!!!!! I am very glad to see you are still making minis.... sometimes when bloggers stop blogging they also give up on minis.... so it is a relief to know you are still working away on the Ancestors House! As for Angelique riding naked.... Modern day Lady Godiva that she is.... Her gypsy soul is restless while Art is lying broken! I hope you can fix his bones quickly! As for clothes... I find it can be a quick fix to make "t-shirt" dresses out of old t-shirts! The knit material is very forgiving, and sometimes the pattern of the cloth is very usable! My favorite trick is the knit cotton cloth of ladies panties.... those often have great printed patterns! :)
I LOVE the model you are using for the exterior of your Ancestors House and think your stone window surrounds are very realistic! We have very few stone houses over here... everything is wooden.... so stone is always such a foreign looking house material from my perspective! I agree with you that Ilona's plants are the most perfect minis I have ever seen!
I do hope you will post on your blog from time to time... blogland has been getting awfully quiet lately!!! It is Wonderful to see what you are up to with your minis!!! :)

    1. Thank you Betsy, Angelique loved the comparison to Lady Godiva! I will never be able to get her to get dressed anymore! I will dig through my knickers to see if there's a dress for her in there 😂 Great suggestion!
I did notice that blogland was getting quiet and I will endeavour to post more regularly from now on. I love reading about everybody's progress, it's only natural I should contribute.

  4. It's great to have you back! And it was fun to look at what you've done in the meantime... what a fantastic house with so much potential. Congrats on putting your hands on Ilona's fern - everything this lady creates is outstanding (and I know what I'm talking about... *grin*) Sorry to hear about Art... but I guess he's counting the days to come home to his Lady Godiva again... ;O)

    Hugs

  5. Hi Veronique! I am Delighted to see that you're blogging once again! Many people are taking a break and are busy during the summer, so it Has been quiet as Betsy has already mentioned but even so- Welcome Back! :D
I am sorry that Art is in the doll hospital but Angelique may find herself arrested if she tries to visit him wearing only her Birthday Suit! hahaha
I LOVED your bedroom furniture but now I'm curious to see what you will replace it with.
