To sit or not to sit

With all the kitsch from the shelves and the table, I felt the room needed a softer texture and a touch of warmth. So I took it upon myself to improve on an internationally acclaimed design, the sofa by Le Corbusier. And I am rather pleased with the result. Sorry monsieur Le Corbusier.

After:

The cat is rather pleased, I think that's because he chased away the corgi 😉

I still had to make chairs for the dining table and I made a start but I ran out of glue! I will need 4 in total but I only had glue for 1. The glue was out of stock so I hope I can get it the coming week. I really want that particular glue as I find it glues everything quickly and neatly.
So here is my first of four dining chairs.

And because it was a lovely day, I did not want to spend the day sitting at home working on chairs. So I went for a walk on the beach with my mum. She'll be 82 in two weeks and I have MS. Neither one of us will run a marathon but with our trekking poles we are unstoppable.

On the other side of the "Channel" it's Great Britain.

2 cargo ships and an oil platform

The Hague with the pier at Scheveningen and further away, the port of Rotterdam (Maasvlakte)

I hope next week will see me more productive. Have a lovely Sunday evening.

Art deco

As I was watching an episode of Poirot on television, I noticed his art deco interior and it inspired me to make some art deco shelves.

I still have not wallpapered the living room as I have not finished wiring the house so please forgive the simple white paper used for this photo.

The Frida Kahlo head is a broche as is the twig with the birds, the gold wire cubes are earrings, the Buddha is made from a bead.

I have not decide how I want to position the shelves. It all depends on what else I am going to add to the wall.

At the fair I had bought a table by Melissa (Laserville) which I also gave a more art deco feel.

The rug is wallpaper with a velvet finish.

The Jeff Koons balloon dog was a pendant.

Last but not least, I decided to give Elizabeth's tutorial a go.

My ribbon is quite a bit smaller but it worked nonetheless. The blue ribbon did not have a wire finish on the sides so I used some wool to finish the neck and sleeves. Thank you Elizabeth, this was fun to do!

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your comments, it inspires me to move forward.

Nothing new

Than why post? Because I want to stay in the rhythm of posting.

And because our garden centre has its yearly miniature display again. I showed it before, I think in 2013, but it is too nice not to show again.

Sorry for the sudden ending but there were people closing in on me.

I haven't done anything but my mum found a toilet at the dollar store. It contains brown slime and makes for a great modern toilet.

Comparing it to a classic toilet.

Oh yes, it needs cleaning! 😱

Looking good I think.

I also bought a Christmas ornament. Why would one want this in a Christmas tree?
Will In have space in the kitchen for this? Probably not, but who knows...

I haven't had time for minis as I am clearing out my Barbies. I'm thinking of downsizing and that means getting rid of a lot of things I have collected over the years. This is just a very very small selection.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and commenting.
See you next time.
