Aaaarggh

Where did time go? Life bulldozered it's way into my plans and I came to a screeching halt. My last post was September 9th, it is now October 28. But really, it feels like I just blinked!

It means I missed all of your updates!! I will be catching up with your blogs the coming days. That means I won't be doing much on my house as there just aren't enough hours in a day but at least you know why.

It's not like nothing happened at all, I did go to a miniature fair and I had that workshop work bench. So let me show you what I bought and what I made.

I bought a fabulous Hästens bed, a crochet bedspread for the bedroom of the Ancestors house, a living room table, lights, cold porcelain and a fridge. I did not break the bank this time. I was looking for a modern wardrobe and a modern toilet and sink but there were none.

I love the fridge and as a plantbased foodie I would love to have one just like that in real life. The kitchen in the Willowcrest is very small though, maybe too small for such a fridge?

As for the bedroom: I had to shorten the headboard a little but now I realize the purple wall doesn't fit. And the bed is big. Being in the front, it dominates the room. I was planning to put a wardrobe against the wall in front of the doors. In real life, I don't know if I would like to sleep in front of the doors. That's why I situated the bed on the purple wall. But now I don't know what to do. It's not like I really have to sleep there 😂

All I would need to do is change the bedside lights. I still want to make feet under the bed to lift it from the floor.

And now for the work bench. The bench and dollhouse were already assembled.
All the rest had to be made and everything needed to be painted, and of course personalized. Please poke the pictures for a better view.

I added flowers to the dollhouse front gable which gave me the opportunity to display the mini tweezers from a previous post.

A work bench has to be scratched and covered in paint.

I had initially planned the work bench in the alcove, that's how I designed my lighting plan but looking at it, I don't think it fits well at all.

So I decided to change it around and it looks way better now. Of course this too will mean a change in the lighting plan.

Of course the exterior of the house still needs lots of work but I dread punching out the small parts from the dry and brittle wood. For now I am going to catch up with almost 2 months of your posts!

The kitchen- de Keuken

Sometimes it's the details that matter. This is how I left the kitchen in 2013
Soms zijn het de details die het hem doen. Zo was de keuken in 2013.

It was high time to finish it. As I will be adding lights later on, the walls are still unattached and the door frames not mounted yet but that will sort itself out once the lighting is installed. Other than that it's very much done.

Het was dus hoog tijd om hem af te maken. Omdat ik later nog verlichting zal toevoegen, zijn de voorzetwanden nog los en de deurkozijnen nog niet gemonteerd maar dat komt dan tzt nog. Verder ben ik er zo wel tevreden over.

I know the miniature world is the perfect world to live out our dreams, things that we could never have in our real life houses. Many of you have the most delightful baking scenes in your mini kitchens. I don't. My RL kitchen is a constant mess, even more so since my dishwasher broke. So my dream is a clean and organised kitchen :-D

Ik weet dat de miniatuurwereld de perfecte plaats is om je dromen uit te beelden, dingen die in je echte huis niet kunnen. Velen van jullie hebben de prachtigste bak scènes in de keuken. Ik niet. Mijn echte keuken is altijd een rommel, vooral sinds mijn vaatwasser kapot is dus ik droom juist van een opgeruimde keuken :-D

I have joined a Dutch group on Facebook and have been buying some miniatures through that group. 

I bought the mushrooms and the carrots from Annet Camphens. They look so real! I made the potatoes. 

Ik zit in een groep op Facebook waar ook in verkocht wordt en koop daar regelmatig wat miniaturen, zo ook  de champignons en wortelen van Annet Camphens, ze zien er zo echt uit! De aardappelen heb ik zelf gemaakt.

Anita Brouwer ( AnitaBrouwer (at) gmail.com) printed some typically Dutch tea towels, blue and white chequered.

De geblokte theedoeken zijn door AnitaBrouwer(at)gmail.com geprint op stof. Ze kan echt alles printen!

But what is that bunny doing in the kitchen?

Probably trying to get at the carrots! Can you blame him?
Waarschijnlijk wil hij de wortelen stelen! Geef hem eens ongelijk.

Christmas decorations part 3 - Kerstversieringen deel 3

Well this is a never ending story!
I left you with a finished Christmas corner and a rebelling Angélique. I decided to let Art sort out the crisis and left for my Stitch and Bitch meeting.
We had all made little Christmas gifts for each other. I made a crochet poinsettia that I totally forgot to take a photo of.
Marja made the gift for me and she decided to go in miniature style. She gave me a... Christmas tree and baubles! What a beautiful surprise and it provided me with the solution to Angélique's problem!

Dit is een oneindig verhaal!
Ik liet jullie met een kersthoekje dat weliswaar klaar was maar waar Angélique niet de kerst in wilde vieren. Ik liet het aan Art over om dat probleem op te lossen en ging naar mijn Stitch and Bitch meeting.
We hadden allemaal een cadeautje gemaakt voor een ander. Zelf had ik een kerstroos gehaakt waar ik geen foto van heb genomen.
Marja had mijn cadeautje gemaakt en zij had gekozen voor iets voor mijn poppenhuis. Een kerstboom en kerstballen! Wat een mooie verrassing en meteen ook een oplossing op het Angélique probleem

If you remember, the walls of the kitchen were not finished yet.

Misschien herinner je je nog dat de muren van de keuken nog lang niet af zijn.

So the first thing I did was do something with the wall. So far it is only the template. They still have to be wallpapered but at least it is white, clean and bright.


Ik heb dus eerst iets met de muren gedaan. Het is nog slechts een sjabloon en moet nog behangen worden maar in ieder geval is het schoon, licht en wit.

That looks better doesn't it? Het zit er al wat beter uit toch?

Then Art and I went back to decorating the tree and this is how it looks so far.
Art en ik zijn toen verder gegaan met onze versierselen en zo ziet het er tot nu toe uit.

Somehow, I have shifted in an alternate universe because I am in a Spring cleaning mood. It must be the gorgeous weather we've been having. I even cleaned my windows today. The neighbour almost fell off her bike at such an unusual and rare sight. Down side of this cleaning frenzy is, that I keep putting all my craft supplies away. Really well... and now I can't find anything any more.... sigh....
It looks like I will not get much mini-work done before the holidays... who knows, maybe it will rain soon....

Op de een of andere manier ben ik in een parallel universum terecht gekomen want ik zit vol in de voorjaarsschoonmaak. Het zal het prachtige weer van de afgelopen dagen wel zijn. Ik heb zelfs mijn ramen gelapt vandaag. De buurvrouw viel bijna van haar fiets, zo zeldzaam en ongebruikelijk was het aanzicht van mij en mijn zeem. Het nadeel van deze schoonmaak bui is dat ik al mijn knutselspullen steeds opruim, heel erg goed opruim. Zo goed dat ik niets meer kan vinden..... zucht.
Het ziet er naar uit dat er weinig mini werk gedaan zal worden voor de feestdagen, hoewel.... misschien gaat het binnenkort wel regenen....
