Art deco

As I was watching an episode of Poirot on television, I noticed his art deco interior and it inspired me to make some art deco shelves.

https://en.paperblog.com/poirot-interiors-of-great-taste-759529/

I still have not wallpapered the living room as I have not finished wiring the house so please forgive the simple white paper used for this photo.

The Frida Kahlo head is a broche as is the twig with the birds, the gold wire cubes are earrings, the Buddha is made from a bead.

I have not decide how I want to position the shelves. It all depends on what else I am going to add to the wall.

At the fair I had bought a table by Melissa (Laserville) which I also gave a more art deco feel.

The rug is wallpaper with a velvet finish.

The Jeff Koons balloon dog was a pendant.

Last but not least, I decided to give Elizabeth's tutorial a go.

My ribbon is quite a bit smaller but it worked nonetheless. The blue ribbon did not have a wire finish on the sides so I used some wool to finish the neck and sleeves. Thank you Elizabeth, this was fun to do!

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your comments, it inspires me to move forward.

I'm glad that I didn't miss this post, because I think your Art Deco shelves are beautiful - and I'm so impressed with your cleverness in the use of jewelry, etc. for all the objects on the shelves. Great ideas! You've also done a good job on "Elizabeth's Sweaters" - they do look like a fun thing to try.

  10. I can only say: BRAVO!!! This shelf is stunning!!! When it first appears in the third picture I thought for a moment this was also a real inspiration from the internet. Fantastic work - and I really like the way you've decorated it, a lovely collection showing the little people in this house are dedicated to art. Speaking of art, this balloon dog is one great find. I really like the way it is displayed on that wonderful table and that paper rug is one clever idea. Your sweaters turned out fantastic… I foresee more of them! ;O)

  13. Your shelves actually look better than the inspiration! The wine rack is a perfect match. May I ask who made the beautiful table. I have never seen one like that before!

    1. Thank you so much Grandmommy! Gluing round things is never simple so I am pleased with the end result.
The coffee table is this one: https://www.etsy.com/nl/listing/609370117/dollshouse-miniatuur-een-schalen-112-diy
I spray painted the base with gold paint and painted the top off white. That changes the whole look of the table.
