The attic stairs - De zoldertrap

Last time I left you with the first floor stairs finished as well as the entry hallway.
Today I want to take you through to the second floor and show you the stairs to the attic.

If this were a real house, it would be impossible to go to the attic as the stairs end up in a dead end. Considering the shape of the roof, the stairs reach the attic outside of the roof.
But this is a dollhouse world, and in this world everything is possible.
The stairs to the attic are very narrow and one wonders if the box of stuff will ever fit but again, in this world everything is possible ;-)

De laatste keer liet ik je de trap en hal op de begane grond zien. Vandaag neem ik je mee naar de eerste verdieping en laat ik je de trap naar zolder zien.

Als dit een echt huis was, dan was het onmogelijk om naar de zolder te gaan omdat de trap op niets eindigt. Door de vorm van het dak komt de trap buiten het dak uit.
Maar dit is een poppenhuiswereld en in deze wereld is alles mogelijk.
De trap naar zolder is erg smal en je vraagt je af hoe die doos met rommel naar boven kan maar in deze wereld is alles mogelijk.;-)

Nothing is glued. Niets is vastgelijmd.

I made the light from half a clear plastic ball from a chewingum ball machine. Ik heb de lamp gemaakt van de helft van een doorschijnende plastic bal uit zo'n kauwgumballen machine.

I still have to hang and wire the light which means adding the attic floor (ceiling for the second floor). And that in turn means there is no turning back. I am dreading glueing walls and ceilings as some areas can not be reached should I need to change something. 

So instead I made the living room floor and I am procrastinating.

Ik moet de lamp nog ophangen en aansluiten maar daarvoor moet ik de vloer van de zolder installeren (is plafond voor de tweede verdieping). En als ik dat doe is er geen weg meer terug. Ik durf nog niets vast te plakken omdat ik er dan later niet meer bij kan mocht er iets moeten veranderd worden.

Dus in plaats daarvan heb ik de vloer van de woonkamer gemaakt en stel ik de rest uit.

New project: The Willowcrest

I got myself a Willowcrest. It was partially built, not that well for that matter, and in dire need of tlc. It came with a big box of parts.

Ik heb een Willowcrest. Gedeeltelijk gebouwd, niet al te goed, en hoognodig aan wat liefde toe. Er zat ook een grote doos met onderdelen bij.

The shoe is there for scale. De schoen is om de schaal aan te geven.

The stairs were already built but not to my liking. So I ripped them apart and did it my way.
De trap zat al in elkaar maar niet naar mijn zin. Dus heb ik hem aangepast op mijn manier.

Drying time with books to flatten the kitchen floor. Droogtijd met zware kost als gewicht.

The painting is a print (internet) of There is the Temple (Parahi Te Marae) by Paul Gauguin. I love Gauguin and each house is a temple to its inhabitants. Het schilderij is "Daar is de Tempel" van Gauguin. Hij is mijn favoriete schilder en elk huis is een tempel voor haar bewoners.

When building this house, certain areas like the stairs of the first and second floor, have to be completely finished before continuing to build because they become unreachable. The second floor stairs take up a lot of space and are difficult to relocate. Elizabeth from Studio E-miniatures wrestled with that problem and linked to other bloggers and their solution.

I chose to follow http://elaineziman.blogspot.com/2013/06/willowcrest-attic-staircase-solution.html It is essentially a mock staircase that ends up outside the house but it looks like you could go to the attic and that's good enough to for me.

I will not make a door, just a few steps and a wall. It's a lot of work for something you won't see. Especially since I have plans to move the windows in the bedroom which changes that line of sight.

Bij het bouwen van dit huis moet je er rekening mee houden dat de twee trappen en halletjes helemaal klaar moeten zijn voordat je verder bouwt, anders kun je er niet meer bij. De trap naar zolder neemt veel ruimte in beslag  en kan niet zomaar ergens anders staan. Elizabeth van Studio E-miniatures heeft daar een post aan gewijd en heeft links geplaatst naar de oplossing van andere bloggers. Ik heb gekozen voor de oplossing van http://elaineziman.blogspot.com/2013/06/willowcrest-attic-staircase-solution.html Het is in feite een nep trap die buiten het huis zou uitkomen maar het ziet eruit alsof je naar de zolder kunt en dat is goed genoeg voor mij.

Ik maak geen deur, alleen wat treden en een muur. Het is veel werk voor iets dat je later bijna niet kunt zien. Vooral omdat ik het raam van de slaapkamer wil verplaatsen waardoor een zichtlijn vervalt.

I love working on the house in the garden. Ik vind het heerlijk om in de tuin aan het poppenhuis te werken.

That's where I'm at for now. I will work on the wall of the mock stairs, the railing at the top of the stairs, the window trim and some kind of window treatment.

Zover ben ik nu. Ik zal de nep muur maken, de trapleuning, het raamkozijn en iets van raambekleding.

I also want to hinge my front door but have never hinged anything. If you know of a clear pictorial, tutorial, explanation, please let me know!

Ik wil graag dat de voordeur open kan dus ik wil de delen scharnieren maar heb dat nog nooit gedaan. Mocht je een goede tutorial, beelduitleg of instructies hiervoor hebben, laat het me dan aub weten.
