The crooked house - Het kromme huis

This house was partially assembled when I got it and not too well unfortunately.

I undid as much as I could but it was glued really well and the wood was old and brittle.

Unfortunately when the base is crooked, so is everything else you built on it.

Dit huis zat al gedeeltelijk in elkaar toen ik het overnam, en niet al te best. Ik heb zoveel mogelijk losgemaakt maar het was echt goed gelijmd en het hout erg breekbaar.

Als de basis krom is, dan is alles wat je daarop bouwt dat ook.

You know how annoying it is when you have a wobbly table? Well the foundation of this house is also wobbly.

Ken je dat, een wiebelige tafel? Nou de fundering van dit huis is ook wiebelig

The first floor was already glued in place and is curved and was not aligned properly. It took me an entire afternoon and quite some physical force to bring it all together.

De vloer van de eerste verdieping was al gelijmd, staat bol en niet op z'n plaats. Ik ben een hele middag aan het trekken en duwen geweest om het enigszins passend te krijgen.

This doesn't make it less crooked but I will just have to be creative about it.

Dit maakt het overigens niet minder krom maar daar verzin ik wel iets op.

 I added the light for the 1st floor hallway.

Ik heb de lamp in het halletje opgehangen

Can you see the gap because the ceiling isn't straight? I have since fixed that. Zie je de ruimte bij het plafond waar het niet mooi recht is? Dat heb ik inmiddels opgelost.

I remember being afraid of lighting my house because it all seemed so complicated. Had I known about the simple system Nalladris sells, I would have used lights sooner. It really is plug and play.
Ik weet nog dat ik verlichting zo eng en ingewikkeld vond. Had ik eerder geweten hoe simpel het systeem van Nalladris is dan was ik wel eerder begonnen. Dit is echt erin klikken en klaar.

Natuurlijk moest ik een Louvre raam maken voor de slaapkamer

Then it was time to put in the floor and walls. Nothing is glued of course! I will be running wires behind the walls and under the floor.

Toen was het tijd voor de vloer en de muren. Niets is al vastgelijmd. De draden van de verlichting gaan achter de muren en onder de vloer.

I moved the side window in the bedroom. That way, it is easier to access the balcony. Makes more sense to me.

Ik heb het raam aan de zijkant verplaatst zodat je makkelijker bij het balkon kunt. Leek me logischer.

 This is not the bed for this room, just trying it for fit. Het wordt een ander bed, dit is alleen om te passen.

Another Gauguin. This painting is actually bigger than this and has a dark figure standing on the left. It is called  Manao Tupapau - The Spirit of the Dead Keep Watch. I think the cropped version makes for better dreams in the bedroom 😉

Een andere Gauguin. Dit schilderij is eigenlijk groter en heeft een donkere figuur aan de linkerkant. Het heet Manao Tupapau - De Geest van de Dood waakt. Ik denk dat de bijgesneden versie voor een betere nachtrust zorgt 😉

The lingerie set was handmade by someone in a Facebook group and even has a hook and eye fastening.

Dit lingeriesetje is gemaakt door iemand uit een Facebook groep en heeft een echte sluiting met haak en oog.

Next on the list is the lights in the bathroom and bedroom. And of course, thank you Betsy, the lights in the attic. Once that is done, it is time to tackle the attic and roof. A rather daunting task as I find all the parts very confusing and the original instructions far from helpful.  Stay tuned...

Het volgende op de lijst is de verlichting in de badkamer, slaapkamer en ook op zolder. Als dat eenmaal is gedaan kan ik verder met de zolder en het dak. Een nogal angstaanjagende taak want de delen zijn hoogst onoverzichtelijk en de instructies verre van duidelijk. Wordt vervolgd...

And there was light

Because I needed some materials and I can only get them next week, nothing got done on the Willowcrest.
The only thing I can show you is the sofa by Le Corbusier that will go in the living room.

Omdat ik materialen nodig heb die ik pas deze week kan halen, is er niets gebeurd in de Willowcrest. Ik kan jullie alleen het bankje van Le Corbusier laten zien dat in de woonkamer zal komen.

Instead of working on the Willowcrest I put the lights in the gypsy wagon
In plaats van aan de Willowcrest te werken, heb ik licht geplaatst in de zigeuner wagen

I made the lamps from jewelry findings. The battery and led lights are from Nalladris
De lampjes zijn gemaakt van sierraad onderdelen. De batterij en ledlampjes zijn van Nalladris
