The kitchen- de Keuken

Sometimes it's the details that matter. This is how I left the kitchen in 2013
Soms zijn het de details die het hem doen. Zo was de keuken in 2013.

It was high time to finish it. As I will be adding lights later on, the walls are still unattached and the door frames not mounted yet but that will sort itself out once the lighting is installed. Other than that it's very much done.

Het was dus hoog tijd om hem af te maken. Omdat ik later nog verlichting zal toevoegen, zijn de voorzetwanden nog los en de deurkozijnen nog niet gemonteerd maar dat komt dan tzt nog. Verder ben ik er zo wel tevreden over.

I know the miniature world is the perfect world to live out our dreams, things that we could never have in our real life houses. Many of you have the most delightful baking scenes in your mini kitchens. I don't. My RL kitchen is a constant mess, even more so since my dishwasher broke. So my dream is a clean and organised kitchen :-D

Ik weet dat de miniatuurwereld de perfecte plaats is om je dromen uit te beelden, dingen die in je echte huis niet kunnen. Velen van jullie hebben de prachtigste bak scènes in de keuken. Ik niet. Mijn echte keuken is altijd een rommel, vooral sinds mijn vaatwasser kapot is dus ik droom juist van een opgeruimde keuken :-D

I have joined a Dutch group on Facebook and have been buying some miniatures through that group. 

I bought the mushrooms and the carrots from Annet Camphens. They look so real! I made the potatoes. 

Ik zit in een groep op Facebook waar ook in verkocht wordt en koop daar regelmatig wat miniaturen, zo ook  de champignons en wortelen van Annet Camphens, ze zien er zo echt uit! De aardappelen heb ik zelf gemaakt.

Anita Brouwer ( AnitaBrouwer (at) gmail.com) printed some typically Dutch tea towels, blue and white chequered.

De geblokte theedoeken zijn door AnitaBrouwer(at)gmail.com geprint op stof. Ze kan echt alles printen!

But what is that bunny doing in the kitchen?

Probably trying to get at the carrots! Can you blame him?
Waarschijnlijk wil hij de wortelen stelen! Geef hem eens ongelijk.

Little details - big projects - Kleine details - grote projecten

When it comes to the ancestor's house, I am moving at a very slow pace. It's a matter of sourcing the right materials and the right miniatures. As fair-season is upon us, I hope October will see some progress.
In the meantime here is a new addition to my sewing shop in the lantern. Two tiny silver thimbles. They will have a place in the shop. Aren't they cute?

Als het op het voorouderhuis aankomt, vorder ik met slakkensnelheid. Het gaat er nu vooral om om de juiste materialen en miniaturen te verzamelen. Aangezien het beurs-seizoen losbarst hoop ik dat oktober vooruitgang brengt.
Ondertussen laat ik jullie mijn nieuwe aanwinsten zien voor mijn naaiwinkeltje in de lantaarn: Twee zilveren vingerhoedjes. Ze krijgen een mooi plekje in mijn winkeltje. Zijn ze niet schattig?

And I absolutely love, love, love the boots. I bought them from Ana Belen Alonso from MINNIANNA on Etsy.
Angelique is over the moon with them and I am a little jealous. I would love these in real size!


Ik ben helemaal verliefd op de rijglaarzen. Ik kocht ze op Etsy MINNIANNA van Ana Belen Alonso.
Angelique is helemaal in haar nopjes en zelf ben ik een beetje jaloers. Ik zou ze in het echt ook wel willen.
 

Because I really liked the lantern idea, I decided to take it a step bigger. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Omdat ik het hele lantaarn idee zo leuk vond, besloot ik het groter door te voeren. Ik houd jullie op de hoogte van de vooruitgang.

Stairs made from foam board and popsickle sticks. It was a very hot summer after all ;-) The sofa is yet another project form Lea Frisoni's book. De trappen zijn van foam board gemaakt en ijslollystokjes. Het was immers een hele warme zomer ;-). Het bankje is wederom een project uit het boek van Lea Frisoni.

And last but not least: I have a Coventry cottage! Second hand, already made, but I have big plans and they involve some serious demolition first!
I know some of you don't mind if there are no stairs in the doll house but to me, that doesn't work. My doll house needs stairs and if possible a toilet. So I am going to do some serious remodelling.

En dan als laatste heb ik een Coventry cottage! Tweedehands en al in elkaar gezet maar ik heb ambitieuse plannen ervoor en daar moet eerst fors voor worden gesloopt.
Ik weet dat sommgen het niet erg vinden als er geen trap is in het poppenhuis maar voor mij werkt dat niet. Mijn poppenhuis moet een trap hebben en als het kan ook een toilet. Dus ik ga een serieuse verbouwing ondernemen.

I am going to halve the porch and move the front door. In the above picture you can sort of see where the door is going to be. The space next to it will be occupied by the toilet, accessible from the kitchen.

Ik ga de veranda halveren en de voordeur verplaatsen. Op bovenstaande foto kun je een beetje zien waar de voordeur zal komen. Daardoor komt er ruimte voor een toilet die vanaf de keuken te bereiken is.

I am going to add this much space - zoveel ruimte ga ik toevoegen.

I borrowed the French doors from the ancestor's house. Obviously the ones I will use will have to match the other windows of the cottage. No idea how to achieve that but adding this much space and halving the porch will allow me to add stairs and a toilet and that is kind of essential to me.
This cottage needs a lot of tlc and will take up a lot of time. So again, a project I will keep you informed about. 
So at the moment I have the ancestor's house, Art and Angelique's modern house (remember that one?), the lantern and the Coventry, all ongoing projects! I won't get bored this winter!

Ik heb de openslaande deuren even van het voorouderhuis geleend maar het spreekt voor zich dat de openslaande deuren die er in komen moeten aansluiten bij de rest van de ramen. Hoe ik dat ga doen weet ik nog niet. Maar in ieder geval zal ik door de extra ruimte een trap kunnen installeren en een toilet en dat vind ik wel belangrijk. Deze cottage heeft wat liefde en aandacht nodig en zal veel tijd vergen dus wederom een project waarover ik jullie op de hoogte zal houden.

Momenteel heb ik dus het voorouderhuis, Art en Angelique's moderne huis (herinner je je dat nog?), de lantaarn en de Coventry. Allemaal projecten waar ik aan het werk ben. Ik zal me in ieder geval niet vervelen deze winter!
