Œil de Bœuf (French Window)

The heatwave continues and it hasn't rained in a long time. I leave water and food in the garden for hedgehogs and birds but the garden itself has to fend for itself as we are being asked to conserve water. I have kept the grass long and there is plenty of shade so most of it is ok but the trees are already losing their leaves. My garden is covered in leaves and it is almost like fall.

We zitten allemaal in hetzelfde schuitje.

Leaves from my cherry tree cought in the netting I have all around the garden to keep my cat from escaping.
My lilac tree blossoms are cooked!

One would think that a country covered in water and canals would have lots of water and although we do, it's not always where we want it.

I understand now why things take longer in tropical countries. Excessive heat slows everything down. We are not used to these temperatures and most of us don't have air-conditioning. Last time we had a similar summer was 1976 and I remember it because I could see the air rippling from the heat and the last days of school were terrible!

Needless to say progress on the house has been minimal. I did however assemble the kit for the French Window, called Œil de Bœuf, Ox's Eye. I purchased the kit from Catherine Ferouelle. While I was painting it, I decided to give the exterior of the bathtub a make-over.

Before voor

That's all I did this week. If the heatwave continues, chances are I won't do much next week either. It all depends if my rain dance works... 😉

Tenzij mijn regendans vruchten afwerpt 😉

Thank you for visiting my blog!! I really appreciate your comments!

  2. Hi Veronique! I Love the makeover for the tub! And the Ox Eye window looks lovely too! I am curious to see where it goes... changes to this kit are always fun to see! I am sorry you are having such drought.... it is scary when that happens. I hope your rain dance works and you feel like making minis too! :):)

    1. Thank you Betsy, the Ox eye mirror will go in the bathroom. It will be contemporary with a few antique pieces ;-)
They say it might maybe rain next week during a thunderstorm. I will keep on dancing to be on the safe side ;-)

  3. So you're doing the rain dance too? I could write exactly the same things as you… execept for one sad thing. My lawn is burnt, burnt, burnt… and I've lost all hope he can recover. *deep sigh* And this ongoing and at the moment even increasing heatwave is blocking everything… especially mini making. I really admire that you've been able to achieve such wonderful progress. Mirror and the repainted bathtub look awesome!

    Hugs
    Birgit

    1. My lawn died 2 days after I posted this post. We are asked to conserve water as much as possible and not water our gardens. So there was no saving it.
I don't hear birds anymore, they have gone.
      Scary stuff!
