Preparations - Voorbereidingen

Amidst the stress of the preparations, I'm taking a moment's rest while my food is in the microwave. A moment to catch up on other blogs and tell you what's been going on here today.

Let me start by saying thank you to you, my followers. You are all much more experienced and better at creating beautiful miniatures and scenes. And at times I am a little intimidated by the level of detail, the talent for styling and staging. But most of all I am inspired, motivated and encouraged by your lovely comments. So thank you!

On a lighter note....
I mowed the lawn for tomorrow. Art's horses were not happy (more on them later),  the bridal bouquet has arrived, the rest of the flowers has not, I still don't have a tiara for Angélique and on top of it all, I now have to do something with the Vardo.

Art and Angélique have decided they will go on a honeymoon and plan on leaving tomorrow after the festivities! Really???

Echt??

They will travel by horse-drawn bowtop to France where Angélique will introduce Art to her family that is camped somewhere close to the coast, then they will take the ferry Calais - Dover and travel all the way to Ireland where Art can introduce Angélique to his family.
I said it would take forever and they agreed.

But then one of the fairies whispered to me that she was going to give them a magic wand as a wedding gift. That way they would be safe from the human world (cars, cats and what not) but it would also warp space, thus shortening their travel distance.

Somewhat reassured I went on to fiddle with the top of the wagon. I hope the wand will do something about that too, because all I can do now is a makeshift version of the real thing.

After seeing to the horses, foals still, Art decided to take all three of them to Ireland. He can't leave one behind, now can he?

Afterwards he settled in the garden with some maps of The Netherlands, Belgium and France and United Kingdom and Ireland to map out the journey.

All day, Angélique has been a busy bee, packing for the trip. She's running around the house and going through my stash of unpacked goodies (waiting for a room to be put in).
One would almost forget there is a wedding to organize first! She says she's confident I've got that sorted.... Hmmm....

Hmmm...

Passports! Paspoorten

Books, light reading? Boeken, lichte lectuur?

candles, a pot for cooking - Kaarsen en een een ketel om te koken
Food, towels, Art's boots,.... Voedsel, handdoeken, de laarzen van Art....
I made the maps, passports and boots. The rest was bought or received.

She still needs a mat to sleep on, a blanket and many other bits and bobs.
I guess I won't have much sleep tonight....

  1. (Hmmmm... Blogger ate my comment!!!)
    Trying again...!
This is So Exciting to see that they are going on their Honeymoon too! I think You are making wonderful miniatures of the best creative kind! I also feel that there are so many little things I don't know how to make... (like little maps!) that take so long to do... but learning is part of the fun too!
I LOVE to see Art with his horses outside! I also love to take my mini "people" outside to photograph.... it adds such a wonderful real dimension!
I think you are very brave to try to get the Vardo ready too.... and all the little things Angelique is packing look just perfect! It makes me want to pack a little bag and go away somewhere.... just to Daydream...!
But I know the wedding must come first... I am sure you will have everything you need ready!
    I can't wait for tomorrow!!!

  3. Hello Veronique! I have delayed my visit here for too long and have now found that you have them packing and almost ready to go! I am catching up as you can see and I have to say that you seem very cool, calm and collected. You are essentially the mother of the bride And the wedding planner And the bridal consultant etc., all rolled into one! With this kind of steady hand, I can see why Angelique is so justifiably confident in your capabilities!

    1. Yes, I had a huge task and a lot of responsibility. I'm glad it's over, all went well and my guest happily ate a raw carrot :-)
