Aan de slag - Getting started

O.k., so you have a doll house. Then what? Then you buy a couple of magazines about doll houses and discover there are plenty of doll house shops in your area. You leave your wallet at home and go on a field trip. Well that's what I did anyway, the wallet thing I mean. And it's a good thing I did!
Full of awe I entered this magical world as if I had arrived at Hogwarts. Everything in miniature, although the prices were definitely not to scale :-)
The prettiest lamps, wallpapers, furniture, doorknobs, plates,... well... sounds familiar?
Armed with a catalogue, a picture of the store window and a head filled with ideas I returned homewards.
The following days I circled the house several times, procrastinating I know. Then I asked my neighbour to put the house on a table so I wouldn't have to work sitting on the floor.

I took all the measurements and made a shopping list of essentials. With nowadays smart phones, I can have everything with me at all times. In the end I bought  doors, door fittings and a kitchen stove that I didn't like the backing of, but I could see the opportunity to change it and it fit the budget.

Step 1 change the doors. Standard doors fit right in!
For the French doors, I'll have to enlarge the opening.

So I get my Dremel and saw the openings that need to be bigger.  I didn't think about the dust :-(

Het past! - It fits!

With a picture from a sheet of scrap-booking paper I gave the kitchen stove a face lift.

  1. Hello Veronique! You have made this stove look like a million dollars by resurfacing the back with the scrap booking paper! It looks Fantastic and the difference that it will make to the kitchen will be considerable! I am loving the way this house is developing and it is only in its early stages!!!!

    1. Thank you so much! Before I can can continue with the kitchen, I have to rip out the old back door and replace it. But it is glued so tight, I might have to hire some muscle! :-)
